Special Education Ministries began when one parent spoke out about his hopes and dreams for his son to have a place to meet with like-minded individuals to learn more about God. In 1968 Bill Parlburg, a student at Western Theological Seminary, brought people together to create a night of community and fellowship for individuals with disabilities. The group began with 7 students and started with the idea of one-on-one relationships between the teachers and students. Throughout the years, SEM has continued to grow to 60 plus students and we will strive to reach that one-on-one relationship thanks to our many volunteers.
